Electromagnetic radiation from wireless applications such as WLAN and mobile radio is a constant source of concern: how dangerous are the electromagnetic fields that people are exposed to through these technologies in everyday life? According to the current state of science and technology, there are no dangers.
However, health and radiation protection authorities recommend precautionary measures, and still see the need for more research, especially regarding the possible long-term consequences of heavy cell phone use. Even the effects in children cannot yet be conclusively evaluated.

The average person does not usually realize that they are innocently endangering their health either from the computer or talking on a mobile phone, thus exposing themselves to the effects of electromagnetic radiation.
Exposure is almost impossible to avoid. However, with a diet and awareness, the dangers of the electromagnetic fields to which we are exposed can be reduced.
The hidden dangers
There is a wide variety of studies on the health effects of radio frequency electromagnetic fields around the world. The results of the German Mobile Telecommunications Research Program (DMF) play a central role in assessing the dangers posed by the authorities.

In addition, it is not finally clear whether there are special risks for children. This will be taking place later as there is evidence that certain areas of the head are more exposed to mobile phone use by children.
Depending on the current state, there are no harmful effects due to wireless data transmission via WLAN or Bluetooth, provided the maximum recommended values are met. The SAR values achieved in the human body when using the devices generally remain below the maximum values, according to the Federal Office for Radiation Protection. According to this, USB sticks, Bluetooth and WLAN transmitters in a laptop placed on the desktop have maximum local SAR values of 0.1 to 0.2 W / kg.
The BfS points out, however, that in the case of an unfavorable placement, values in the range of the maximum allowable values can be reached, so it can be harmful.
Caution is advised
The Federal Office for Radiation Protection generally recommends keeping radiation exposure as low as possible. In principle, it is always possible that there are hitherto unknown health risks. Furthermore, the minimization requirement is a basic principle in radiation protection. The authority gives a set of concrete recommendations for everyday life.
Users should observe the minimum distances specified by the manufacturers for WLAN and Bluetooth class 1 devices. If wireless technology is not required, wired connections should be preferred. Wi-Fi access points should not be set up near places where people stay permanently, for example, at or near the workstation. If there is any possibility of configuration, the range of WLAN access points should be limited to the level necessary to reduce the maximum radiated power.
Caused by cell phones, power lines, computers, and microwave ovens, as well as other electronic and magnetic devices, electromagnetic fields can cause harm to the body.
How to protect yourself from electromagnetic radiation
Protecting yourself from electromagnetic radiation is crucial to well-being, here are some practices you might consider.
Unplug and preserve wellness
Completely avoiding electromagnetic radiation is impossible. However, minimizing exposure lessens the detrimental impact on health.
- The first rule of thumb is to turn off and unplug appliances when not in use .
- Avoid exposure to Wi-Fi networks – especially in the home .

Connecting the body to the earth, as well as the use of key foods and supplements, improves resistance to electromagnetic radiation. Grounding is an excellent practice to protect yourself from the harmful effects of electromagnetic fields.
