The fried yuca , also known as fried manioc , is a great companion to many dishes and foods, today is a well – known traditional recipe and South American countries. It is frequently used to accompany meats and replace the classic French fries .

Although cassava is an ingredient commonly found in the supermarket, not everyone pays it due attention and many are unaware of its versatility in the kitchen. This plant is uprooted approximately 12 months after being planted, just time so that its roots do not become too hard to be consumed.

There are many ways to prepare fried yucca , either in strips or in pieces and with different ingredients such as salt, pepper, virgin olive oil, etc. The truth is that it is a very simple and fast recipe.

 Yuca Frita – an easy recipe

This popular recipe is characterized by a crunchy texture on the outside and soft on the inside. For its preparation, fresh or frozen cassava can be purchased, this second option is already peeled and its preparation is expedited.

The fried manioc is also a delicious appetizer to the eating alone. To learn about its preparation, a simple step-by-step recipe is explained:

Ingredients for four servings:

  • 1 bottle of oil for frying
  • 1 unit of cassava of a medium size
  • Shall
  • 1 liter of water

The preparation is very easy, you must boil the water, add the salt and let the yuca cook until it is soft enough, without breaking. When they soften, they are allowed to stand and the pieces of a suitable thickness are split by removing the central strand. The last step is to fry them in batches until golden brown and sprinkle with salt to taste.

Some variations in its preparation add pepper or virgin olive oil. But in itself its procedure is the same.

Popular recipes with fried yucca

Many recipes make use of fried cassava or cassava in their preparation, being a perfect and delicious complement, some of these are:

Mandi’o Chyryry

It is a food widely consumed in Paraguay, practical and delicious. For its preparation you need:

  • 4 eggs
  • 4 boiled yuccas
  • 1 parsley
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 onion
  • 200 grams of Paraguay cheese or a similar one.

Its preparation is quick and simple, the yuca is cut into small pieces and the vegetables are chopped. In a frying pan with oil, cook the yuca until golden brown and add the onion until it is transparent. Then the egg, salt and the rest of the vegetables are added and finally the cheese, mixing everything. For a stronger touch you can add a little ground pepper.

Fried cassava and crispy pork

It is a very quick and easy recipe to make at home. It makes use of various ingredients such as:

  • 300 gr of pork (lean)
  • Chive
  • it
  • Shall
  • comino
  • Olive oil
  • ½ lemon
  • And of course, the cooked cassava

For its preparation, the pork is chopped and fried accompanied by a little oil, a whole clove of garlic is added that will be removed later, it is left to brown well and the lemon juice, salt and cumin are added.

After mixing well, it is removed to one side and the yucca is fried. It is cut into small slices and left to brown in the oil. This recipe is usually decorated in a mold or cup, where everything is served together and they share a glorious flavor.

Fried fish in sauce and fried cassava

The fried yuca is accompanied perfectly with the fish and other meats. This recipe makes use of different vegetables, salt and pepper, fish and parboiled yucca.

Ingredients:

  • 500gr of boiled yucca
  • 500 gr of sole fish fillet
  • 1 bunch of coriander
  • 1 onion
  • 3 pear tomatoes
  • 1 yellow pepper
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 sweet paprika
  • Salt and fresh pepper
  • Vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch

To prepare this recipe it is necessary to boil the yucca and chop it into sticks, once they are al dente, they are browned in oil, simultaneously in another pan, place the fish to fry. The fish is seasoned with salt and pepper, mixed with cornstarch and browned on both sides.

The sauce is made, the onion is chopped into crescent shapes, garlic very finely and the tomatoes in a cube. In the pan, fry the garlic in olive oil for a few seconds and add the onion along with the yellow pepper to sauté for 5 minutes. Add the rest of the seasonings along with the vinegar and cook for one more minute, to serve as a sauce with the fish accompanied by the fried yucca.
