The coconut oil is the most versatile oils and is a staple in many kitchens. Coconut oil has been common in Asian and Pacific households since ancient times, and is now gaining popularity in the West and being recognized for its health and beauty benefits such as glowing skin and hair.

Coconut oil is an oil, as we have already mentioned, very versatile, since you can use it both in cooking recipes, health remedies, beauty recipes, and other varied uses as well. This time we will use olive oil for the skin and hair . So maybe it’s time to swap your expensive commercial hair and skin products for a cheaper and more natural alternative, you have nothing to lose.

Which coconut oil should we use

For best results, use unrefined coconut oil (often labeled “virgin” coconut oil) that is processed without the chemicals that damage the natural compounds that make it so good for your hair and skin. You can find it in some supermarkets, health food stores, or online.

Coconut oil for shiny hair

Coconut oil contains medium chain fatty acids (MCTs), of which lauric acid is the best known of them. These fatty acids nourish and hydrate the scalp and hair. A study published in 1999 in the “Journal of Cosmetic Science” found that applying coconut oil to hair reduced breakage.

Coconut oil is solid at cold temperatures, but melts at 76 degrees F (24.5 C) or higher. So if the coconut oil is solid, melt a few tablespoons in a double boiler.

  1. You can add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to coconut oil to add a pleasant scent or to enhance hair benefits (See: 12 oils to help hair grow ).
  2. Massage the coconut oil into your scalp and hair. You can apply the oil to wet or dry hair, but it is easier to spread the oil when the hair is wet. You can also apply the oil only to the ends of the hair rather than the scalp .
  3. Next, wrap your hair with a shower cap or towel so that your hair is completely covered, and wait for at least an hour or two, or preferably overnight (the longer you wait, the more conditioned your hair will be).
  4. Then wash your hair twice with your shampoo, you can use natural shampoo until all the oil has been completely removed. If you want, you can use apple cider vinegar as a hair rinse afterward. See: Herbal conditioner with vinegar for hair .
  5. Repeat this treatment when the hair begins to feel dry (depending on how dry the weather is or how often you use the hair straightener). It can be done once a week or less.

Coconut oil for hair without gray hair

Pigment cells located at the base of each hair follicle are responsible for the color of your hair. However, as it grows larger and larger, these pigment cells die off and become less efficient. One way that coconut oil prevents gray hair is by nourishing the scalp and protecting the base of the hair follicles.

The healthier the hair, the longer you will be able to avoid gray hair. To do this, massage your hair with coconut oil and lemon every day for at least 15 minutes.

Coconut oil for glowing skin

Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer not only for hair, but also for skin. It helps to soften the skin and is especially good for dry skin. It can also help treat eczema due to its anti-inflammatory properties.

Coconut oil is better than many commercial moisturizers that contain petroleum-based ingredients and a large amount of water. The water content makes you feel like your skin is hydrated, but when the water dries, the skin becomes dry again. Coconut oil, on the other hand, is a deep moisturizer that nourishes the deepest tissues.

How to use coconut oil for glowing skin

  1. Apply coconut oil after a shower or after washing your face.
  2. When applying coconut oil to your face, do it like you do with your normal moisturizer.
  3. Start with a small amount (about the size of a pea) and apply around the eyes and face, and up to your lips if they are dry and chapped. It tends to have a more greasy consistency at first, but absorbs quickly into the skin. Let it soak into your skin for a few minutes before applying makeup.

You can also use coconut oil instead of a body lotion to hydrate the rest of your body.
