You probably know someone who has an exceptionally strong personality. Someone who seems very independent and a bit unnerving. Or, maybe that person is you. There is nothing wrong with knowing what you want and having the guts to go after it, but someone with a strong character or intimidating personality can often come off as aggressive or rude. A strong person may have the biggest heart, but their harsh elements can be intimidating and make a bad first impression.

signs that you have an intimidating personality

Here are five signs that you have a strong personality that could even ‘scare’ others:

You do not tolerate willful ignorance

To be honest, it either triggers an anger within you (that you can’t shut up), or it makes you want to leave without saying a word. This may be because most strong-willed people are also highly educated. After doing everything they could to understand as much of the world as possible (which requires an open mind), when they see someone who is willfully ignorant or prejudiced, they simply cannot handle it, and they will not tolerate it.

2. Short talks are annoying

Conversations that invite intellectually stimulating discussion are always welcome, while the mundane topics of the weather and what the celebrity is marrying can leave you frustrated and upset.

And yes, those with strong personalities are prone to telling others exactly what they think. This is especially true when you are concentrating on an important task and someone interrupts you with your talk. They don’t really have the patience or time to deal with trivial details.

3. You find opportunities where others don’t see any.

One of the advantages of having an open mind is seeing opportunities where others see closed doors. Anything can happen with the right mindset.

This trait can help you survive (and thrive) when times get tough. The only problem you might encounter if you have an intimidating personality is when others show animosity and jealousy of your ability to be successful.

4. You focus on solutions, not problems

People who have strong personalities are known to get things done. They work tirelessly to achieve their goals. When a problem arises, they focus on solving the problem. Due to this type of mindset, these people do not tolerate excuses from others.

If someone tries to complain to someone with a strong personality, without considering solving their problems, they will find themselves alone. Strong personalities do not favor weak individuals.

5. Your word is everything

If you have a strong personality, you are one of the few people who really says what you mean, and you mean what you say. You have never been someone to break promises, or lie to a friend (even if you knew the truth would hurt them), and people respect you for your honesty. But they might not appreciate it at the time. In fact, you’ve probably had someone tell you that they don’t like the words you said to them, even though you said them kindly and honestly.

This trait makes you despise liars. They say something you know is false and suddenly there is a fire inside of you. Because of this, they pick and choose their friends wisely.
